ABOUT US What is Big Brothers Big Sisters? Big Brothers Big Sisters is a non profit mentoring organization that matches children (ages 5-15) with an adult volunteer. Most of the children in our program come from single parent homes and are in need of additional attention, time and support. A "Big" is an adult volunteer (over the age of 18) who has agreed to spend at least six hours a month with a child enrolled in Big Brothers Big Sisters for the period of one year. A Big Brother/Big Sister is not a social worker, counselor or substitute parent. A "Big" is simply a friend, someone to hang around with, talk to, and have fun with. Typically, a "Big" would ..
And most importantly a "Big" would .HAVE FUN AND BRING A LITTLE MAGIC INTO THE LIFE OF A CHILD! We at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Morgan County strive to help children in any way that we possibly can. Most all of us has had a special person in our lives, other than our parents, who did something that we will always remember, something that really made a difference in our lives. Somebody we could talk to, laugh with and learn things from. We provide many services and activities for the children in our program, both matched and unmatched. Some of the activities include annual Christmas and Easter parties, a Spring Fling, a Back to School Swimming party, in which we provide the children with back to school supplies, a fall hayride, ballgame tickets, and much more! We have professionally trained staff who are here to help you in case a problem should arise with your "Little". YOU can make the magic happen in a child's life sharing little moments and experiences that open up the world to them and will last a lifetime. |
